COMPANY HISTORY
Our parent company – Tot-lot Child Care Products – was founded in 1971 to provide products and services to the early childhood education professional community. In 1984 a publishing division was established to publish our first book, Learning Centers for Young Children, which remains a featured product in our web store.
Since its establishment, the publishing division has undergone significant change and growth. It has progressed from a very small portion of the parent company activity to a major component. Our initial publications were limited to early childhood education and child development. Since then the scope of our publications has increased significantly and now includes publications in the major subject-matter-content areas. A substantial portion of our publications include college textbooks, laboratory manuals, and professional training manuals and workbooks.
As publishing diversity increased, a more generic name for our publishing endeavors seemed desirable. Furthermore, some pragmatic business considerations suggested that a separate and distinct publishing entity was preferred and required. With these considerations in mind, Consortium Publishing was founded as a separate company on January 1, 1990.
